Welcome to the 2026
Build it. Race it. Win it.
Pinewood Derby meets Mario Kart chaos. Build your car, form your team, and hit the track — but speed alone won't save you.
This year's derby is a twist on the classic Pinewood Derby — we're introducing Mario Kart game mechanics to the track.
You still need a fast car if you want to win — you absolutely cannot rely on power-ups alone to take the top spot. But strategy will play a serious part in who stands on the podium. Ever wanted to drop a banana peel on your opponent? Fire a green shell down a lane? Or unleash Bullet Bill and blitz the field? This year, you can.
Speed + Strategy = Your best shot for the podium.
Every registration comes with a set of random Boost & Chaos cards to play on race night. Play a card in your race to shake up the competition — but choose wisely, because chaos cuts both ways.
Extra cards are available to buy on the night — slow down your opponents and support the Pathfinder Club's Camporee trip in January. Win-Win!
This year we're adding a team competition to the mix. Form a team of 3 racers — every point each of your team members earns across all their races gets totalled into a collective team score.
It's still an individual race — there will be a individual champion — but alongside that sits a Constructors' Cup, where your team's combined points determine the overall winning crew.
Keep your car in the races as long as possible to rack up points for your team. It's not just about your car — it's about your crew.
Team names will be chosen from the Mario Kart character list on the night.
Every dollar raised goes directly towards sending our Pathfinder Club kids to Camporee. Come race, bring everyone you know, and help make it happen.
Best in Show is back! A prize will be awarded for the best-looking car — but to be eligible your car must be built and themed around a Mario Kart character or theme. Get creative!
